Hey y’all! My name is Sydney Vance, and I am ecstatic to serve as TCU Theta’s Vice President Diversity, Equity and Inclusion this year! I am currently a sophomore Acting and Journalism double major from Phoenix, Arizona. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in Broadcasting while continuing to audition for professional theatre on the side. Growing up in the theatre community has meant meeting a lot of people who are different from me, people who challenge and push me to grow and change my thought process. I am really excited to be in this Executive Board position because I have a passion for helping others around me and listening when people need it most.
Coming through the TCU Theta doors, I knew I had found my home from day 1. My mom was a Theta at a different school, but regardless, I had grown up on Theta’s values, being a leader, the importance of grades, and being a kindhearted, genuine human. I truly tried not to be biased, but after my first day of recruitment I cried to my mom saying I wanted to be a Theta and I wanted to be her sister. Here we are, almost 2 years later, and I would make that decision again and again. Theta has continued to be a home and a sanctuary of unique and intelligent women and sisters who constantly push me to be my better self, not only academically but also personally, by encouraging me to grow in character, embrace new challenges and support those around me with empathy and kindness. I am overwhelmed by the love and sisterhood this chapter offers and I feel so honored to be a part of it.
TLAM,
Sydney Vance
